Our Story – How it all started

A little about where Campo (formerly Campo Blanco) came from...

We always thought we would end up in Spain. In fact, that was the plan. We were both teachers, dreaming of a different pace of life, sunshine, and long evenings filled with good food and good company. But before we made the move, an opportunity came up right here in Whitefield and everything changed.

In 2018, we took a leap of faith, left teaching behind, and opened a small Spanish restaurant called Campo Blanco. Spain has always been a huge part of our lives. Faye lived there, we both love the food, the culture, the warmth, and we wanted to bring a piece of that feeling home to Manchester.

The early days

Like any new business, the beginning was full of challenges. Learning to run a restaurant, dealing with constant changes, figuring things out day by day, it was a lot. We still remember the night we served 40 covers and felt like it had wiped us out. The next week we did 80. A week later we served over 200 and thought: this might really be something.

And from day one, the support from the local community, from Whitefield, Prestwich, Bury and beyond, was incredible. Guests encouraged us, left amazing reviews, and kept coming back. Many of the people who booked a table in those early weeks are still regulars today and genuinely feel like part of our extended family.

Growing through chaos

When Covid hit, life turned upside down just like it did for everyone. Overnight, we switched to takeaways and it was chaos. But it also pushed us to develop personally and professionally. It made us stronger, more resilient and more grateful than ever for the community around us.

Evolving into Campo

By 2024, we were ready for the next chapter. It started with wanting to change the upstairs flooring which somehow turned into a full renovation. We refreshed the entire space, moved away from the bold colours we had fallen out of love with, and created a more neutral, stylish and modern interior. We added a cosy seating area for drinks, updated the branding and changed the name.

Everyone had always called us Campo, and it felt more modern, more us, and more in tune with where the restaurant had grown.

Who we are today

Faye now runs the show front of house. She manages the staff, the rotas, the ordering, the marketing, the social media and makes sure everything is running exactly as it should.

Aaron looks after the business operations. This includes the accounts, the suppliers, the logistics and all the new ideas that keep Campo moving forward.

Together, we make decisions as a family because that is what Campo is at its core. A family-run neighbourhood restaurant built on warmth, care and genuine hospitality.

Our values

Today, Campo stands for:

  • family

  • great service

  • a warm, welcoming environment

  • lovely food and drinks made with care

  • a relaxed space where everyone is looked after

What we want guests to feel

The moment someone walks through the door, we want them to feel:

  • truly relaxed

  • at ease

  • well looked after

  • part of the family

Whether you are popping in for tapas, enjoying a drink in the bar area, bringing the kids for a Sunday roast, or celebrating something special, Campo is a place to unwind and feel at home.

The future

Our vision is simple.
We want to stay a beloved neighbourhood restaurant.
We want to keep improving every single thing we do.
And we want to always listen and act on guest feedback because that is how we have grown and how we will keep growing.

Campo started as a dream of living in Spain. Instead, we brought Spain home and built something even better than we ever expected.
